Pricing

Pricing in six markets,
and the unit behind each quote.

Korean clinics quote hair transplants per hair, a unit their fee schedules call “mo”. Turkey, Japan, Thailand and India quote per graft, meaning per follicular unit. A follicle carries about two hairs, a figure footnoted on the Korean fee schedule itself. So a Seoul quote of 3,000 and an Istanbul quote of 3,000 are not the same purchase, and they are out by roughly a factor of two in Seoul's favour before anyone discusses price. Nobody tells comparison shoppers this. It is the first thing on this page because it changes every other number on it. Some figures on this page carry a source and measurement date; others are still provisional placeholders. See each figure's own note, and the methodology line under the comparison table, for which is which.

What the market actually charges

Six markets, and the unit each one counts in.

Roughly 2,500 grafts, surgery only unless the basis column says otherwise. These are other people's prices, not ours.

Market ~2,500 grafts Quoted per Basis
India $1,230–2,155 Per graft ₹40–70 per graft plus 18% GST, from clinic-published cost guides, the weakest source here
Turkey $2,720 Flat package Median entry all-in package across three named Istanbul clinics; one is fixed to 4,000 grafts, one is fixed regardless of count
China $2,853 Per case Yonghe Medical FY2025 audited average spend per hair transplant patient (RMB 19,300 across 71,400 patients), an average, not a 2,500-graft price
Thailand from $3,040 Per graft One Bangkok clinic, FUE from THB 102,000; non-shaven published separately at THB 100 per graft
Korea $4,865–11,780 Per hair One Seoul clinic’s statutory non-covered fee schedule, 4,500-hair band (roughly 2,250+ grafts once converted)
Japan $16,470 Per graft + base fee One Tokyo specialist clinic’s published tariff: ¥220,000 surgery fee plus ¥990 per graft, computed at 2,500 grafts

Published fee schedules and advertised packages from six markets (Modaol Seoul non-covered fee schedule; NHT Japan Tokyo tariff; Yonghe Medical HKEX 02279 FY2025 annual report; Hairtran Bangkok; Cosmedica, Smile Hair Clinic and Dr. Serkan Aygin Istanbul; HairMD India cost guide): n=1 clinic per market except Turkey at n=3, and each row names its own basis (https://modaol.co.kr/ck_Sub/sub_price.php), measured 2026-07-28. Converted at European Central Bank reference rates of 2026-07-27 (USD 1 = EUR 0.87804, JPY 163.64, CNY 6.7661, KRW 1,470.11, THB 33.58, INR 95.92). Read the table with three cautions. The Chinese figure is an average spend per patient across a listed chain's whole year, not a price for a defined graft count. The Turkish figure is a package including hotel and transfers, while the Korean and Japanese figures are surgery only. And every market except Turkey rests on a single clinic, which makes these order-of-magnitude anchors rather than national averages. We would rather publish n=1 and say so than publish a confident average we did not measure.

The unit, worked through

The conversion: about two hairs per follicle.

A follicular unit is a natural cluster of one to four hairs that comes out of the scalp together, and it is what a graft is. Turkish, Thai, Indian and Japanese clinics price per unit. Korean clinics price per hair, and the published Seoul fee schedule behind the table above states the conversion in its own footnote: for non-incision extraction, one follicle averages two hairs. So the Korean 4,500-hair band is roughly 2,250 grafts, which is what makes it comparable to a 2,500-graft session elsewhere at all.

Two practical consequences. First, if you carry a Seoul quote to an Istanbul consultation, or the reverse, ask which unit each number is in before you compare them: the mistake runs about two to one. Second, notice what the unit does to incentives. A Turkish package that is flat regardless of graft count prices the marginal graft at zero, while a Korean schedule priced per hair prices every additional hair. Neither arrangement is dishonest, and we are not going to imply otherwise. But they pull in opposite directions on the one decision that cannot be undone, which is how much of your donor area gets spent, and the ceiling on that is set by biology, not by the invoice. That arithmetic is on the donor capacity page.

Our own indicative ranges

Three tiers. All three still placeholders.

Unlike the market table above, these are our numbers, and we have not signed the partner-clinic contracts that would make them real.

Up to 2,000 grafts
From $2,200

Typical for early-stage hairline or crown work. See /guides/how-many-grafts/.

2,000–3,500 grafts
From $3,400

The most common single-session range for a full hairline-and-crown case.

3,500+ grafts
From $5,600

Advanced-stage or multi-session cases: donor capacity is checked before this is quoted, not after.

PLACEHOLDER: not yet cited to a primary source. Figures in this table have not been checked against a named source or measurement date. Graft counts in these tier names are graft counts, not hair counts. See the unit section above. When a quote is issued it will be written, held in your currency, and confirmed before any payment is taken.
